Douglas F. Newman Libertarian
Candidate in 2004 for |

- Principal Beliefs
Government cannot solve either your economic problems or your personal problems. Doug Newman believes taxes, spending, and regulations should be kept to a bare, constitutional minimum. When individuals, businesses, and private organizations are allowed to address their own problems, they can resolve them far more effectively than the government.
Doug Newman is not a professional politician. He pays the same taxes, lives under the same laws, and endures the same frustrations with government that you do. His philosophy is simple: Ask not what your government can do for you. Ask what your government can do to you.
- On the Issues
- Taxes & Spending: Consistent with his principal beliefs, Doug Newman will oppose any increase in state taxes or spending, and will work for real decreases in the size, cost, and intrusiveness of state government.
- Self-Defense: The right of innocent people to defend themselves is the right upon which all others depend. Doug Newman favors the elimination of any law infringing on the right of Coloradoans to keep and bear arms.
- Education: Doug Newman opposes any government interference in the right of parents to choose how to educate their children. Parents who opt out of public education should not be taxed to support public education.
