• On the Issues

  • Exporting jobs overseas: We need to stem the tide. We had a close call this year, when my husband's help desk was shutdown and all the jobs were shipped overseas. My husband luckily was able to move within the company. The other people he worked with weren't so lucky. Colorado was a major destination for jobs leaving California. The reason was simple, taxes and regulations in California were far too high, Colorado was a low cost alternative. Compared to local jobs, state services are a luxury. To keep and hold jobs in Colorado, we need to make it valuable for business to locate here. That means lower taxes, less regulation and reducing state government spending.

  • Protecting out right to control taxes: Our current politicians lament at the fact that they can't raise taxes as fast as they'd like. The citizens of our state have the unique ability to vote on all tax increases. Our politicians are endlessly looking for loopholes and short cuts around our state constitution to usurp the power of the people. I will strive to protect and uphold the right of Colorado citizens to decide their own fate when it comes to taxes.

  • Pay and benefit equity: Government employees should not receive better pay and benefits than the people who pay their taxes. Fortune magazine highlighted a growing problem across the U.S. That of government employees getting excessively generous pensions. One of the highlighted problem areas was the Colorado State Government. With so many people losing their pensions or getting much less than they've put in, it's an obscenity to ask the same people to front the costs of extravagant pensions for the government civil servants who are supposed to be working for them.
